Eucalyptus oil is a commonly used over the counter home remedy for ailments like common cold and sinusitis. Although considered very safe adverse effects are infrequently reported partly due to poor awareness. We report an interesting adult patient who developed first episode of generalized tonic-clonic seizure immediately following inhalation of eucalyptus oil.
Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a potentially treatable neurological disorder which manifests with headache, diplopia and vision impairment. Various known predisposing factors include obesity, hypothyroidism, steroid withdrawal, medications like tetracyclines, quinolones etc. Association with infections is extremely uncommon. Here we report a young female who presented with features of idiopathic intracranial hypertension and further etiological work up revealed active mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia.
