Land evaluation is an assessment of the potential of land resources. The results of land evaluation will provide information on the best use of it which will lead to expected value of production. This study aimed to determine the level of suitability of the cocoa plantations in Bantaeng Regency using the FAO and Sys methods; make a map of the actual and potential land suitability. The results of the analysis showed that the actual cocoa land suitability of the FAO method was presented in distribution points according to marginal (S3rn) with limiting factor of rooting media and nutrients availability. While the actual land suitability analysis of the cocoa Sys method was not suitable (N1cSf) with climate limiting factors, the soil physical properties and soil fertility. Based on the limiting factors the physical properties of the two methods, there were similarities in effective depth (FAO) and soil depth (Sys), S3 parameters according to FAO and N1 according to Sys. The limiting factor for the soil chemical properties of the two methods was also the same, the availability of S3 (FAO) nutrients, while the (Sys) method was the soil fertility N1.
Cocoa cultivation business that still has great potential in the future. The problem faced by farmers in cocoa cultivation is that farmers are still lacking in implementing post-harvest management that can provide added value and competitiveness of cocoa quality in the market. This study aimed to 1) analyze the status of cocoa sustainability in Gantarangkeke sub-regency, Bantaeng Regency; 2) analysing the sensitive leverage to the sustainability of cocoa in the Gantarangkeke sub-district. Based on the results of the analysis of the social and cultural dimension index value of 55.19 percent and infrastructure and technology of 51.66 with the category of quite sustainable. While the ecological dimension is 46.68 percent, economy 36.69 percent and legal and institutional 27.45 percent with the category of less sustainable. The results of the analysis of leverage factor, there are fourteen sensitive attributes that affect the sustainability of cocoa in Gantarangkeke sub-district, Bantaeng district. Improvement of attributes, especially sensitive attributes, can improve the cocoa sustainability index.
Corn is one type of food crop known by many people because corn is one of the staple food ingredients with a variety of processed foods. In addition, corn can also be used as animal feed. There are many factors that affect the sustainability of corn cultivation. The purpose of this study were: (1) analyzing the sustainability of corn cultivation in Herlang of Bulukumba district; (2) analyzing the sensitive attributes to the sustainability of corn cultivation in Herlang of Bulukumba district. Based on the results of the analysis, the sustainability index value of corn cultivation were: ecological dimension 61.10%, social and cultural dimension 53.73% with a quite sustainable category, while the economic dimension is 40.15%. infrastructure and technology dimensions 44.12% and legal and institutional 44.59% with less sustainable categories. The results of the analysis of leverage 51 attributes, there are 17 sensitive attributes that affect the sustainability of corn in Herlang district, Bulukumba regency. Improvement of attributes, especially sensitive attributes, can improve corn sustainability index.
