Evaluation of the efficiency and estimating crop yield and forecasting are very important, because relation to food security of the country and to reach the stage of self-sufficiency. Research is trying to estimate the crops, and solves the problem of monitoring of farms inaccessible by field visits; monitor the implementation of the agricultural plan in addition, to monitoring the health status of crops. Utilizing application of remote sensing RS, geographical information system (GIS) added satellites imageries with multi temporal and spatial analysis of vegetation cover. The research includes the collection of (12 image) Landsat8 and (3 image) Sentinel-2. In addition the meteorological data from agricultural meteorological stations of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture. Moreover the field data. Covered the winter planting season from 01/10/2015 to 01/05/2016.The research includes using Cropwat program to calculation Calendar germination of crops, and using ERDAS IMAGINE 2014 to create process and calculation NDVI, Change Detection, and spectral profile analysis from imageries. Moreover using ArcGIS 10.3 for building Geodatabase, building spatial database, analysis data, and product maps. The results of the evaluation showed that most of the Ain al-Tamur pivotal farms are highly efficient and the results of change detection for the NDVI and NIR are very effective.
Agricultural statistics are considered one of the most important topics in the developed countries now. In addition to the irrigation systems used, they relate to the quality and quantity of production and the consequent export and import of agricultural crops in order to achieve food security for the country. Therefore, the present traditional methods used in the collection of statistical data are not sufficient to cover the vast areas of cultivated strategic crops and to determine the effects therein. This is due to many factors, the most important of which is climatic changes. Hence the importance of the application of remote sensing techniques for image and data in the survey, agricultural statistics and monitoring of the quality and quantity of production using the latest satellite images available free from the owner of artificial satellite Sentinel2 which has spatial resolution of 10m instead of 30m available in artificial satellite Landsat8. Research results showed that the temperature can be controlled using modern techniques used in irrigation, which improves the atmosphere and thus contribute to providing a suitable environment for the wheat crop, which helps to increase the amount of production these have been clearly monitored using applicable indicators derived from satellite imageries data.
Evaluation of agricultural crop efficiency is one of the most important applications dealt with remote sensing (RS) science and geographic information systems (GIS) because of their economic importance and relevance to countries food security. Therefore, to know the locations of the farms and count the ones specialized in cultivating the wheat crop, the farms of the Ain al-Tamur Cultivation Division, which are famous as being the pivotal farms dependent on groundwater, were chosen as a study area in this research. The research tries to enumerate and estimate the areas cultivated with the wheat crop, which are difficult to access due to the large cultivated area and assess the quality of the crop simultaneously based on the indicators of remote sensing. Eleven satellite images of Landsat8 and Sentinel-2. They covered the entire agricultural seasons of the period from 01/10/2015 to 01/06/2016. Moreover, the GIS program, a spatial database was prepared, depending on the meteorological data of the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, and using the Cropwat program to calculate the germination evaluation of the crop. Infrared (IR) bands & Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) maps and crop change detection maps created in addition to color maps representing farm areas and their quality. The research results showed good results in estimating areas and the quality of the crop grown with the technique of pivot sprinklers.
