We have studied the 8 Li and 8 B nuclei within the extended ␣ϩt( 3 He)ϩN model, which takes into account peculiarities of both two-and three-body dynamics. Effects of strong deformation and dynamical polarization of the 7 Li( 7 Be) core as well as the core excitation are treated simultaneuosly. Various observables are calculated for 8 Li, 8 B states and compared with the experiment. Estimates, based on the values of asymptotic normalization coefficients for the obtained 8 B wave function, support S 17 (0) value ϳ19.2 eV b.
