An automatic technique for calibrating electrically small electroma etic field sensors utilizing a transmission cell is p r e s e n t 2 The method is fast to use and allows probe calibration immediately prior to use at current ambient conditions. This greatly simplifies calibration and eliminates errors due to environmental conditions. Also eliminated are human errors associated with standard manual calibrations. Also presented is a method of reducing the sensor calibration data to less than 10 numbers while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. The data reduction technique can be expected to yield errors of less than 2 dB over two decades of frequencies and field strengths. The automatic calibration and data reduction techniques are demonstrated on a diode-loaded dipole antenna system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
