Abstr&-Photoionizotion and photoabsorption orosa sootione for Ng, 04 and 0 ~p8 p~~entod in B form useful for calaulation of solar EUV absorption and photo&&on production. The croos s&ions axe based mostly on the d&a presented in the reviews by SUEOEN (1969) and Hurm (1969).
We measured the differential production cross section for producing pions in 12.2-GeV/c p-p collisions on lines of fixed P j and P ± in the cm. system. We found that d 2 cr/ dQdp is maximum at Pj =0, in disagreement with our earlier result, which supported the two-center model. We have evidence that the earlier result is wrong. It also appears that in the cm. system, d 2 a/d£ldp is factorable into functions of Pj and P±. In the P ± dependence we found a very sharp forward peak of the form e ~l bP ± .
We measured the differential cross section for 12.4-GeV/c proton-proton inelastic scattering on circles of fixed energy loss in the cm. system. We varied the inelasticity from 8 to 94% and covered much of the angular range. For essentially all inelasticities the dependence on Pj^ is approximately e"^^-^ . The absolute value of (fu/dQdp also depends only weakly on energy loss.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
