It is kn& that at temperatures above 132 K holmium shows paramagnetic 0 properties, between 20 and 132 K it shows antiferromagnetic properties, and below 20 OK it shows ferromagnetic properties (1).According to the data of neutron diffraction analysis (2), the magnetic structure 0 of holmium in the antiferromagnetic state (20 to 132 K) can be described a s a simple spiral SS, while in the ferromagnetic state below Tc (20 K ) a structure of the type of ferromagnetic spiral FS is characteristic of holmium. The purpose of this work is to study details of the thermal expansion of holmium in the magnetically ordered state, the greatest attention being paid to the problem of the phase transition AF-F.
3The object of research was a holmium polycrystal (99.9% purity) bar, 5 x 5~3 8 mm -7
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
