BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: CAS carries an inherent risk of distal cerebral embolization, precipitating new brain ischemic lesions and neurologic symptoms. Our purpose was to evaluate the frequency of new ischemic lesions found on DWI after protected CAS placement and to determine its association with plaque morphology.
Background Carotid artery dissection (CAD) is main cause of stroke among young and middle-aged patients. Clinical presentation of CAD includes one side headache, pain on neck, often accompanied by Horner syndrome, and followed by cerebral ischaemia. The aim of this study was to analyze the spectrum of clinical presentation in patients with CAD.
