The modification of crystalline structure by epitaxial growth on different single crystals induces crucial effects on the exchange bias coupling. Due to the larger lattice constant ͑a 0 ͒ of Cu 3 Au͑100͒ ͑a 0 = 3.75 Å͒, the vertical lattice constants of Fe/ Fe x Mn 1−x films on Cu 3 Au͑100͒ are much smaller than those of the Fe/ Fe x Mn 1−x /Cu͑100͒ system ͑Cu: a 0 = 3.61 Å͒. By reducing the vertical lattice constants, the interface exchange bias coupling energy of Fe/ Fe x Mn 1 −x /Cu 3 Au͑100͒ is enhanced to be 0.12-0.18 erg/ cm 2 , which is approximately four times that of the Cu͑100͒ system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
