This work deals with the multiobjective mechatronic design optimization of a sewing machine. The mechatronic model of the machine is developed based on the coupling of the needle bar and thread take-up lever mechanism dynamic and the DC motor models. Based on the mechatronic model, the consumed energy, the DC motor load, and the coupler tracking error are minimized, simultaneously. The multiobjective imperialist competitive algorithm is used to perform the mechatronic design optimization. The obtained results show that if the user allows a small tracking error, he can significantly reduce the motor load, the vibration, and the consumed energy of the sewing machine.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
