ChemInform Abstract The title complex (II) is prepared as shown by reductive dimerization of (I), which is a new class of cluster condensation. (II) crystallizes in the space group R3 with Z=3 and has 20 cluster valence electrons. The cluster possesses a regular octahedral core of six Mo atoms. The cyclic voltammetry and coulometry in CH2Cl2 solution indicate reversible one-electron reduction and oxidation waves.
Two triethylphosphine complexes of trinuclear molybdenum chlorosulfido clusters have been synthesized. Determination of the crystal structures have shown that they can be formulated as [Mo3(μ3-S)(μ-S)3Cl4(PEt3)n(MeOH)5−n] (n = 3, 4).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
