AIM: To show the anatomical variation in the nerve supply of extensor carpi radialis brevis. RESULTS: The nerve to extensor carpi radialis brevis was found arising from the superficial branch of radial nerve, i.e. the radial nerve proper. CONCLUSION: The awareness of varition or nerve supply to extensor carpi radialis brevis from superficial branch of radial nerve is clinically important of surgeons, orthopaedicians, anaesthetists, physiotherapist & plastic surgeons to avoid damage to nerve during surgery and in interpretation of results.
AIM: To show the anatomical variation in the nerve supply to extensor carpi radialis brevis, found in routine dissection.
RESULTS: It is found that extensor carpi radialis brevis is supplied by branch of radial nerve (i.e) radial nerve proper in our dissected specimen.
to February 2015 in one specimen we found a hypo plastic right posterior cerebral artery. As a normal variant it is also familiar to neurologists during interventional procedures along with cerebral angiography. Awareness of the normal variants in cerebral vascular anatomy is most useful in their practice. This hypo plastic variant carries an increased risk of posterior circulation stroke.
Pyramidalis muscle is a muscle situated in the lower part of rectus sheath. It shows considerable variations. This muscle is known to vary considerably in size and present either unilaterally or bilaterally. A large number of studies support the racial variation in its occurrence. Here we describe an absence of the muscle in the rectus sheath.
Variation in the left Hepatic venous system are common. A total of fifteen bodies dissected at our institution showed a variant of abnormally high Left Hepatic venous drainage into Inferior vena cava. Normally the drainage entry into the IVC is into intra hepatic region of IVC. No definite trunk can be delineated as Left Hepatic vein outside the Liver borders. The case showed an abnormally long Left Hepatic vein reaching the extra hepatic part of IVC and opening through a separate Osteum into IVC.
Variations in the anatomy of brachial plexus are common. So is the median nerve anatomy. Knowledge of the variations contributes to the surgeons planning and curative intent during surgical repair of the Median nerve deficiencies. During routine brachial plexus dissections of cadavers for undergraduate students a variation of formation and innervations by the median nerve was identified at our department of anatomy, Rangaraya medical college, kakinada. A total of forty two brachial plexuses were explored and a variation in a male body on the left side was noted.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
