Jalaukavacharana is the ancient technique used for Raktmokshana, here Jalauka means leeches and avacharana means application. Jalauka is one of the tools for Raktmokshana, among Shring, Alabu and Prachhana where Jalauka, Shring, Alabu are used for Pitta, Vata, Kahpa Doshaj Vyadhi respectively. Jalaukavacharana (leech therapy) is a non-surgical type of Raktamokshana and considered as the most unique and effective method of bloodletting. A lot of research work has been carried out in Ayurveda and Modern medicine to prove efficacy of leech therapy in various disorders. Leeches are widely used in most of the disorders ranging from skin disease to Ischemic heart disease with evidence of successful results. In the present paper effort has been made to review various scientific studies which have been conducted in Ayurveda as well as Modern medicine and study the indications of Jalaukavacharana in various disorders as per Ayurveda and Modern medicine. COVID-19 Cases across the globe is more than 100 million. Subsets of people who have recovered from COVID-19 experience symptoms that remain even after testing negative for the virus, these set of symptoms are called Post COVID Syndrome or long COVID. Researchers all over the world are trying to deal with this disease. Ayurveda will be of great help for the entire world in dealing with this Syndrome so present study was carried out with iWALL tablet which is a polyherbal Ayurvedic formulation to see the efficacy and safety of this drug in Mild Post COVID Syndrome. In this study 25 patients with Mild Post COVID Syndrome like fatigue, myalgia, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath were treated with iWALL Tablet 750 mg two times a day for 3 month. All the data collected statistically shows significant results and study concluded that iWALL tablet is effective and safe in Mild Post COVID Syndrome.
Ayurveda is the science of life with aim to protect the health of healthy individuals and to cure the diseases of sufferers. Ayurvedic approaches can give fruitful results in prevention and management of COVID19. WHO has declared the outbreak of COVID 19 to be a public health emergency of international concern on 30th January 2020. Ministry of AYUSH, many Ayurveda institutes, eminent Vaidyas give guidelines to combat COVID 19 in preventive and health promotive way. Ayurveda has mentioned Dincharya, Rutu-charya, Sadvrutta Palana, Ashtanga Yoga to prevent any disease. We in this paper tried to show benefits of these Ayurvedic principles in pandemic disease like COVID-19. COVID-19 disease can be correlated with Vatkapha Pradhana Sannipataja Jwara. Many Ayurvedic drugs mainly Ashwagandha, Yashtimadhu, Guduchi are tried for clinical trials for treatment of COVID-19. Clinical trials of Ayurvedic drugs on quar-antine COVID-19 positive patients shows good results with Ayurvedic stand-alone treatment. We in this paper tried to summarize all the possible Ayurvedic approaches in preventive and curative way, clinical trials through Ayurvedic add on and stand-alone treatments. We lastly concluded with positive note that Ayurveda can be beacon of light to fight COVID-19 Pandemic.
