A novel and efficient metal‐free approach has been disclosed for the deoxygenation of amine N‐oxides to amines and sulfoxides to corresponding sulfides using the green and economical reagent I2/K2S2O8. Deoxygenation of pyridine N‐oxide, quinoline N‐oxide, N,N‐dialkylaniline N‐oxides, trialkylamine N‐oxides and aryl sulfoxides have been achieved in excellent yields. This method has been proven to be applicable to a wide range of substrates. A broad range of functional groups were well tolerated in this reaction system.
A convenient and novel approach has been developed for the synthesis of unsymmetrical diaryl sulfides by the reaction of sulfonyl hydrazides with phenols, aromatic amines and heterocycles using a [Bmim][Br] ionic liquid through C–S bonds formation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
