[3H]SMT also bound appreciably to peripheral tissues (the liver, adrenal, stomach, ileum, kidney, lung and bladder), whereas the [3H](R)aMH bindings to these peripheral tissues were negligible. These results indicate that [3H]SMT binds to H3 receptors primarily in the central nervous system, and that it also has high affinity toward non-H3 receptors, probably hemoproteins, in peripheral tissues.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
