Our results support previous studies which indicate the presence of meconium can be associated with chronic fetal hypoxia as demonstrated by elevated fetal NRBC levels.
Objective: To show the existence and density of endometrial nerve fibers in endometriosis and other gynecological pathologies and their relation to pain.
Methods:This cross-sectional study involved 325 women planned to have gynecologic surgeries at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital from December 2010 to February 2014. The diagnosis was adenomyosis, uterine fibroid, endometrial hyperplasia or carcinoma, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), ovarian tumors and endometriosis. Endometrial tissue was obtained during hysterectomy or with a curette and then immunostained with the pan neuronal marker anti PGP 9.5 to detect the endometrial nerve fibers and to quantify their density if present. Results: Endometrial nerve fibers were detected in all cases of endometriosis and 13.7% of other pathologies except PCOS (p<0.001). Pain was the only independent factor associated with the presence of endometrial nerve fibers (OR 14.5; 95%CI: 6.7-31.2). Type of pain was not related to the presence of endometrial nerve fibers (p=0.668). The nerve fiber density is strongly correlated with pain scores (r=0.479, p<0.001).
The current study aimed at comparing the efficacy of Clomiphene Citrate (CC) for the expectant management of unexplained infertility in females over 3 successive cycles.
Materials & Methods:The present randomized, controlled, clinical trial was carried out at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital. Females with unexplained infertility for at least 12 months of unprotected regular marital life were enrolled. Eligible females were randomly assigned into one of the 2 following groups: group 1 received 100 mg CC once a day for 5 days, and group 2 was expectantly followed up without induction of ovulation. The primary outcome was the clinical pregnancy rate. Results: A total of 113 females were enrolled in the current trial. The mean age of the subjects was 25.3±3.1 years; ranged 20 to 33. The clinical pregnancy rate was slightly, but significantly, higher in CC group compared with the controls; both per case (7/57 vs.
Placenta percreta in early pregnancy is rare and only few cases are documented. We report a case of placenta percreta at 10 weeks gestation. Sonography revealed absence of line of demarcation between trophoblast and myometrium extending to the urinary bladder region. Termination of pregnancy by hysterotomy was done. The diagnosis and treatment of placenta accreta in early pregnancy must be taken seriously which might protect patients from considerable bleeding and further morbidity.

DiscussionOver the last few decades, CS rates have continued to rise
Background: Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCP) have some risks and side effects with regard to several organs, one of which is the eye. Estrogen & progesterone receptors have been shown to be present in various eye structures, such as the choroid, retina, conjunctiva, cornea, Meibomian glands, and lens. Aim of Study: The purpose of this study is to assess the macula, Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (RNFL), and choroid thickness, in addition to evaluation of macular Ganglion Cell Complex (GCC) by using spectral-domain OCT system (3D OCT-2000 FA; Topcon Crop., Tokyo, Japan) in 20 women using Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCP) for more than one year and to compare them with 20 healthy reproductive age women volunteers. Patients and Methods: This is cross sectional study included 20 women using oral contraceptive pills in comparison to 20 normal females between April 2018 till July 2018 at Giza memorial Institute of Ophthalmic Research. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is used to evaluate the posterior ocular segments, and measurements have been taken in the follicular phase (day 3) of the cycle in all women. Results: The mean age of the OCP group was 31.7 ±3.76 years and the mean age of the control group was 31.3 ±5.031 years. Both groups are homogenous in terms of age (p=0.7773). Most of the macular layer thickness and the foveal center are significantly thinner in OCP group. The macular volume is thinner in OCP study group. Retinal nerve fiber layers are thicker in OCP study group a part from Superior RNFL which is thinner in OCP study group, while temporal RNFL zone is with no significant changes. Choroid thickness values, is thicker in OCP study group. Ganglion cell complex is with no significant difference. Conclusion: We found that women who had received combined oral contraceptive pills more than one year have changes in posterior ocular segment.
