The paper considers the safety of operating hydraulic structures for reclamation. Such research is imperative today due to the high risk of accidents at such structures. Meeting the technical, economic, environmental, and aesthetic requirements to hydraulic structures is absolutely necessary; otherwise, significant damages may ensue. Hydraulic structures (HS) are operated in two ways of organizing the maintenance and repairs: periodic inspections to check the condition of HS elements and find whether repairs are necessary; and carrying out pre-scheduled repairs and adjustments. Analysis of the two methods reveals that scheduled preventive repairs can ensure the fail-safe and reliable operation of hydraulic structures, and are therefore fundamental to proper operation.
Renewable energy technologies (RET) that emerged as a result of the shift towards the renewable energy sources (RES) which aims at setting the path towards decentralized low-carbon energy systems intended for tackling global warming are becoming key elements of the smart grids of the future. Our paper applies the economic, social and technological model of the renewable energy platforms to the energy markets of the 21st century. The paper analyses the growing importance of the individual players (prosumers) on the energy market, especially when it comes to the renewable energy generation and trading. It shows that modern advanced information and communication technologies enabled the energy prosumers to trade their energy and information in two-way flows. All of these might be important for the transition towards sustainable economy and green technology.
The article analyses the problems of the modern system of legal regulation of digital relations in the field of industrial safety and labor protection in the Russian Federation and on a global level. Procedures regulatory digital interactions, such as regulatory authorities among themselves and their interaction with the employer in the part of inspections, the issuance of regulations of attraction to administrative responsibility. Developed proposals for the implementation of complex of measures on improvement of mechanisms of digital interaction between employer and regulatory services in the field of industrial safety and labor protection. Developed program of training of specialists on labor protection and industrial safety on the legal regulation of digital relations.
Our paper focuses on studying the development and implementation of a comprehensive environmental safety assessment and mitigation strategy for countries of origin and destination of environmental migration. Environmental migration represents one of the key threats to the security of regions and countries and is linked to their sustainable development (or lack thereof). Moreover, it is also connected to many important social, economic as well as demographic outcomes. Global warming caused by human activities is already having a major impact on the planet and is likely to render parts of the world uninhabitable, leading to migration, displacement, and planned resettlement. The goal of the paper is also to assess the impact of future migration due to the global warming and climate change. The results of the paper demonstrate that climate impacts can trigger migration and change population distribution within the next few decades. It is also clear that migration caused by the environmental factors (such as droughts, floods, higher temperature sand more extreme weather events) would inevitably lead to the geopolitical changes with long-range impacts and effects.
The article presents proposals on the use of the risk index method to determine the sustainability of cultural heritage sites. This INFORM method is based on the assessment of the three risk components by measuring the relevant indicators in each of three directions: the degree of danger; level of vulnerability; counteraction (overcoming) potential. The method includes about 50 different indicators for measuring hazards and impact on them, vulnerability indicators and determining the necessary resources for stopping hazards. The integral risk index is formed as the geometric mean of the component indices: danger, vulnerability and lack of counteraction potential. The application of the INFORM method for the development and adoption of managerial decisions to increase the sustainability and security of cultural and historical heritage sites makes it possible to assess risk, and in the future, planning measures for the restoration and maintenance of cultural heritage sites.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
