The main objective of this project was determining of lead, cadmium, nickel and chromium in raw petroleum wastewater (RPWW) samples. The samples were taken before and after passage the RPWW on Australis Phragmites Plant (APP). Atomic absorption spectrophotometer was used to determine the heavy metals in RPWW samples before and after passing, The concentration of lead, cadmium, nickel and chromium before passing on APP was found to be 0.25, 0.9, 0.52 & 0.012 ppm respectively, but after passing on APP was fond to be 0.123, 0.75,0.45 & 0.01 ppm, respectively. The obtained results after passage were found within the range assigned by American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM, except the concentration of nickel.
Some trace elements (Ag, Al, As, Bi, Cd, Co and Cr,) which could be found as pollutants in fruit dates palm and agricultural soils at Zilfi province was measured using ICP-MS. The area of study, the date palm farms found at Zilfi province, was surfed during September 2013 taking 11 samples of soil from these farms randomly. Also 11 samples of date palm fruit (fully ripe, stage of Tamer) were collected from the same farms. The pH and electric conductivity was measured to the soil samples. (ICP-MS) spectrophotometers were used to determine the concentrations of the elements in both soil and dates (washed and unwashed). The concentration of Ag in all samples was higher the Saskatchewan quality standards for soils .All soil samples were found to be contaminated with As, because all these concentrations of arsenic are more than Saskatchewan quality standards for soils (11(mg/kg)), and SQGE soil quality guideline for environmental health (17(mg/kg). All elements concentrations date fruits samples are less compared to literature elements concentrations. As general the concentrations of these elements are less in washed date samples compared to unwashed ones.
Dust has frequently been used as a material fo r monitoring trace elements polution. The wind may take the trace elements to the f arms. And we know that there are many farms around Zilfi Province., at Saudi Arab ia. So in this study the concentrations of some trace elements(As,Cd,Cr, ,Pb, and ,Zn) , in streets dust in ma jor streets and inner ones in Hai Elsdeeg and Smnan at Zilfi Province have been studied for co mparison, using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS), after siev ing and digestion using HNO 3 , HCL and HF. Concentrations of most elements have been found less than allowed concentrations in literature , but the concentration of arsenic is found higher than the limit allo wed specially in some sa mples. . The concentrations of , Cd , , Pb, Cr , and Zn , are high nearby car repair workshop and also at main streets especially in Hai Elsdeeg compared to Hai Smnan .
This study aimed to synthesize bio-based composites from polypropylene and some esterified plants' fibers extracted from khimp (leptadenia pyrotechnica), leaves, and fibers of the date palm tree (Phoenix dactylifera L.). 24 composites in form of sheets were synthesized by injection molding technique using a modified manually operated injection molding machine. Properties like density, melting range temperature, melt flow rate, molecular weight, melt viscosity and water absorption capacity were determined for each synthetic composite. The study employed MFR and ordinary laboratory tools. The study proved that the synthesized composites are of good process ability, physical and thermal properties and have more densities than polypropylene itself
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
