Synthesis and Fungicidal Activities of 3-Aryloxymethyl-6-substituted-1, 2,4-triazolo(3,4-b)(1,3,4)thiadiazoles. -A variety of title compounds of type (III), (V), and (VII) are synthesized in 51-84% yields starting with the corresponding triazoles. These compounds combine the two biolabile components 1,2,4-triazole and thiadiazole. Solid-state reaction between zinc hydroxide and 8-quinolinol [8-HQ] has been studied. Reaction product has been characterized to be Zn(OH)2(8-HQ)2 by elemental analysis, quantitative estimation of zinc, thermal decomposition in air, thermogravimetry in nitrogen atmosphere, powder X-ray diffraction patterns, and IR spectra. Kinetics of reaction has been investigated by capillary method at different temperatures. Energy of activation for the reaction has been found to be 45.27 kJ mol−1.
