SUMMARY A case of right lower partial nephrectomy for renal adenocarcinoma is described. The left kidney was congenitally absent and the patient was well over two years later. We are indebted to Dr A. MacFarlane and Dr R. C. B. Pugh for their pathological reports, and to Dr R. G. Grainger for the aortogram.

Emergency surgery in bleeding peptic ulcer remains a problem: not only when to operate, but what to do. This short paper is confined to what is done after the abdomen is open, and its effect on both operation and whole series mortality, and on further bleeding after operation.
