Nowadays, tourism-led economic growth has become a major outcome of the public policy. Researchers have recently begun to address the development of tourism from a perspective that is based on economic, cultural, social, and environmental sustainability. This paper aims at presenting a strategic approach that can help to develop sustainable tourism at touristic destinations. In order to pursue our aim, the A’WOT (AHP-SWOT) hybrid method, developed in combination with SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis and the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method, was used. SWOT analysis was used to determine the significant strategic factors, and the AHP method was applied to prioritize these factors. The province of Zonguldak, located in Northwest Turkey, was chosen as the research area to suggest tourism strategies that can be sustainable by means of the application of the A’WOT method. Proposed strategies for the research area are related to product diversification and event management, the image of the destination, a sustainable visitor management system, promotion and branding strategies, partnerships, and cooperation. The results illustrate that the dependent economic structure may be broken down with the development of the tourism industry and, therefore, that some strategic initiatives are required to achieve sustainable tourism in the province.
Over the past few years, employee engagement has gained significant attention due to its positive impact on various organizational indicators such as job satisfaction, commitment, performance, productivity, and profitability. The aim of this study is to conduct a thorough analysis of existing research on employee engagement. To accomplish this aim, 786 articles concerning employee engagement indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) between the years 2002 and 2022 were analyzed using bibliometric analysis methods. The VOSviewer program was employed to conduct citation, co-citation, co-authorship, and co-occurrence analysis. The study identified the leading countries, institutions, authors, journals, and scientific publications on the topic and shed light on current research patterns and future research avenues. The results demonstrate that the most productive country is the USA, the most productive institution is the University of Louisville, the most productive author is Brad Shuck, and the most productive journal is Sustainability. The current trend of research involves exploring the antecedents (e.g., corporate social responsibility, perceived organizational support, organizational culture, work–family balance) and consequences (e.g., job satisfaction, organizational commitment, employee performance, organizational citizenship behavior) of employee engagement. However, further research is necessary to explore the impact of various leadership styles, digital technologies, and new ways of working on employee engagement.
In recent years, human resource (HR) professionals have struggled with problems such as reduced efficiency, increased cost, fraud risks, and time-consuming procedures in the process of finding and hiring the right talent for companies. Blockchain technology has emerged as a powerful tool to solve these problems and transform the recruitment process. The aim of this study is to investigate the opportunities, challenges, possible solutions, and prospects for blockchain technology adoption in recruitment. In order to achieve this aim, exploratory research has been conducted through a combination of a comprehensive literature review and a structured interview with experts in the field of human resource management (HRM) and blockchain. Thematic analysis has been used to analyze qualitative data. The findings reveal that blockchain-based recruitment systems enhance the recruitment processes by offering opportunities such as increasing the speed and reliability of the transactions and reducing costs and routine workload. Thus, it provides a sustainable competitive advantage to the companies. However, these systems have some technological, organizational, and environmental challenges that can be addressed in the long term. In the future, it is expected that the use of blockchain technology in recruitment processes will be a gradual process and will change the role of recruiters.
In recent years, emerging trends in entrepreneurial activity have been changing constantly, and new entrepreneurship types are developing in the global world. Especially, a number of studies have drawn attention to the alternative entrepreneurship approaches. This chapter reviews an alternative entrepreneurship opportunity called portfolio entrepreneurship, also known as multiple business ownership. The main purpose of this chapter is to investigate the importance of strategic decision-making of portfolio entrepreneurs. This chapter also aims to provide a framework that is three-box solution for portfolio entrepreneurs to improve their decision-making performance. The results of the study are expected to be a source for researchers and practitioners in the areas of entrepreneurship and decision making.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
