Environmental laws are enacted for the purpose of protecting the environment. This study was conducted to determine the enforcement and violations involving Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (R.A. No. 9003) in Davao City, Philippines. A questionnaire was formulated based on the provisions of Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and distributed to the respondents. The respondents of this study were 256 barangay officials from 42 barangays in Davao City, Philippines. They were selected as respondents because they have direct observation on the enforcement and violations of the law in their areas of responsibility and the 42 barangays were chosen because they belong to the urban part of Davao City. The enforcement of selected provisions of the Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 (R.A. No. 9003) in relation to the functions of a local government unit is high which means that the provisions are often complied while the enforcement against prohibited acts is often indicating frequent enforcement. The provision that was moderately enforced is failure of material recovery facilities to receive biodegradable wastes for composting. Keywords: Ecology and Conservation, Enforcement of Solid Waste Management Act, Quantitative Research, Philippines
