A myriad of cultural and language-related factors can affect the communication between clinicians, interpreters, and patients. Misunderstandings can lead to diagnostic errors; inadequate treatment; disengagement; and, thereby, poor clinical outcomes. A qualified interpreter can decrease the risk of miscommunication.
