This study aims to determine the physical and chemical characteristics of the edible film of jackfruit seed starch (Artocarpus heterophyllus) added with antioxidant rosella flower extract (Hibiscus sabdariffa). The type of plasticizer used is glycerol. The best treatment in this study was the jackfruit seed edible film with the addition of rosella flower extract 3% (v/v) with the results obtained respectively for a thickness of 0.09 mm, tensile strength 0.003332 N/mm2, elongation percentage 126.36%, elasticity 0.002637 Kgf/mm2, pH 6.122, water absorption 61.67%, solubility 40%, water vapor transmission speed 0.6714 gram/hour m2, FTIR test results show that the process of making edible film in this research is the mixing process Physics, the shelf life of edible film at room temperature is 6 days and at cold temperatures is 8 days, and has antioxidant activity with an IC50 value 219.948 ppm. The addition of rosella flower extract enhances another benefit of edible film which functions as a food protector from the oxidation process (antioxidant).
Produksi radikal bebas yang melebihi kebutuhan akan menimbulkan berbagai penyakit degeneratif, sehingga diperlukan senyawa yang bersifat sebagai antioksidan. Antioksidan merupakan suatu senyawa yang mampu menghambat kerusakan akibat oksidasi radikal bebas. Senyawa antioksidan alami dapat bersumber dari beberapa tanaman, salah satunya yaitu bunga Gemitir (Tagetes erecta Linn.). Aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak bunga Gemitir disebabkan karena keberadaan senyawa flavonoid, fenolik, dan karotenoid. Tujuan artikel review ini adalah untuk mengetahui manfaat bunga Gemitir sebagai antioksidan. Review artikel ini dibuat dengan metode studi literatur, yaitu dengan menggunakan artikel penelitian terdahulu yang diperoleh melalui proses pencarian literatur terkait manfaat ekstrak bunga Gemitir sebagai antioksidan. Berbagai penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak bunga Gemitir memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan alami dan beberapa senyawa yang berperan yaitu flavonoid (kuersetagetin), fenolik, dan karotenoid (lutein).
Bali’s marine resources is an important economy asset as well as food resource for local community and marine tourism. Nusa Penida Island is located in Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Region, Bali Province. It is belonging to the coral triangle area, the highest marine biodiversity in the world. Based on Decision Letter from Ministry of Marine and Fishery number 24/2014 about Nusa Penida Marine Conservation Area in Klungkung Region, Nusa Penida marine area was designated as Marine Tourism Park. Most of coastal communities in Nusa Penida are seaweed farmer. Marine tourism activity has significant impact for community’s life. Integrated development is required to be done for its sustainability. The objective of this study is to analyze marine tourism contribution for community’s prosperity in coastal area of Nusa Penida Island. Purposive sampling is chosen to collecting field data trough interview and questionnaire in 30 respondents and analyzed used BPS’s indicator (2011). As much as 90% of coastal community in Nusa Penida is categorized in moderate living condition. Marine tourism activity contributes about 36% of local income, it’s mean that marine tourism activity in Nusa Penida give positive contribution for local communities’ prosperity.
UJI AKTIVITAS DIURESIS INFUSA SELEDRI (APIUM GRAVEOLENS) TERHADAP MENCIT PUTIH JANTAN (MUS MUSCULUS). Tanaman seledri (Apium graveolens L.) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung zat aktif yang banyak dimanfaatkan dalam pengobatan tradisional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan aktivitas infusa seledri (Apium graveolens L.) sebagai diuretik pada mencit jantan putih. Mencit putih jantan dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif (akuades), kelompok kontrol positif (suspensi furosemid), kelompok kontrol normal (tanpa perlakuan khusus), kelompok infusa seledri 50%, kelompok infusa seledri 100%, dan kelompok infusa seledri 150%. Pengujian terhadap efek diuretik dilakukan dengan melihat volume urin yang diukur setelah 24 jam perlakuan. Berdasarkan volume urin yang dihasilkan, hasil yang didapat menunjukkan adanya aktivitas diuretik pada infusa seledri.
