The GE-1/2/3 satellites are the first satellites based on Lockheed Martin's A2100™ bus to obtain operational status. They are geosynchronous communications satellites which provide fixed and broadcast services in both C-and Ku-band to the continental United States as well as several surrounding land masses. Data from the GE-1/2/3 satellite series shows that the use of A2100 technology has significantly improved satellite manufacturability, testability, operability and performance relative to previous Lockheed Martin spacecraft. These improvements include increased design life, mission life, reliability, autonomy, and reduced lift-off mass, production cycle times, unit in process reworks, test discrepencies, and operator interaction required.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
