A Thiyl Radical Mediated Cascade Sequence for the Co-Cyclization of 1,6-Hexadienes with Sulfur Atom Transfer.-The reaction with concomitant sulfur transfer involves a cascade reaction with addition of a thiyl radical to an alkene, cyclization through a chair-like transition state and termination by homolytic substitution at sulfur. -(HARROWVEN, DAVID C.; HANNAM, JOANNE C.; LUCAS, MATTHEW C.; NEWMAN, NICOLA A.; HOWES, PETER D.; Tetrahedron Lett. 41 (2000) 48, 9345-9349; Dep. Chem., Univ. Southampton, Southampton SO17 1BJ, UK; EN)
A New Cascade Radical Reaction for the Synthesis of Biaryls and Triaryls from Benzyl Iodoaryl Ethers.-A new method for the synthesis of biaryls and triaryls through an intramolecular ipso-substitution reaction initiated by the addition of an aryl radical to benzyl ether is developed. The method is applied to a tandem variant [→(VI)] and to the synthesis of the natural product isoaucuparin (IX). -(HARROWVEN, DAVID C.; NUNN, MICHAEL I. T.; NEWMAN, NICOLA A.; FENWICK, DAVID R.; Tetrahedron Lett. 42 (2001) 5, 961-964; Dep. Chem., Univ. Southampton, Southampton SO17 1BJ, UK; EN)
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
