SUMMARYA new method for synthesis of artificial turbulent fields is proposed. The idea of the method is based on the representation of the turbulent field as a collection of randomly placed spots with an unknown inner distribution of velocity determined from the prescribed autocorrelation functions. The proposed algorithm generates fluctuations with prescribed spatial integral length scales, integral time scales, two-point spatial and one-point temporal autocorrelations, as well as one-point cross correlations between fluctuation components.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
