All patients with MD underwent Meckel's diverticulectomy with appendicectomy. MD has an incidence of approximately 1 to 2% in our population. It is necessary to maintain a high index of suspicion in the diagnosis of MD paediatric age group because it can be easily misdiagnosed.

Background Probiotic supplementation significantly reduces the risk of mortality and ≥ Stage II necrotising enterocolitis in preterm neonates. (Deshpande et al Lancet 2007, Pediatrics 2010. Based on the current evidence, experts favour routine probiotic supplementation in preterm neonates, if safe and effective products are available.
