Adaptive orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(AOFDM) offers reliable data transmission solution for medium voltage powerline communication with low SNR and frequency selective attenuation . Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimator is a key decision parameter in adaptive transmission. In this paper, a virtual carrier based SNR estimation algorithm is proposed. Algorithm can be applied to two cases; one is for data-aided estimation and the other for blind estimation. SNR estimator use virtual carrier in synchronization train sequence or virtual carrier generated by oversampling. Second-moments of received signal is calculated to deduce the result. The performance is compared with other algorithms through Monte-Carlo simulation. The result shows that it is a feasible algorithm for MV powerline communications.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
