SUMMARYThe authors developed a system that automatically creates regular aircraft flight schedules and minimizes the total number of aircraft required. Since the target problems are real-world problems having constraints that are intertwined in a complex manner, the authors used a genetic algorithm to achieve the optimization. In this paper, the authors describe the problem setup and genetic algorithm configuration and verify the algorithm's effectiveness through experiments using real data.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
