The relationship between various parameters characterizing a particular system are established using various techniques. In some specific cases, ordinary multiple regression is resorted to for relating one variable to various other variables. However, in such problems there is a high probability of an interrelationship among different variables giving rise to multicollinearity, thereby making it infeasible to place much reliability on ordinary regression techniques. This problem can be circumvented using ridge regression techniques. In this preent investigation an attempt has been made to study the multicollinear problems in biology.
The mastoid process is a bony pyramidal projection from the posterior section of the temporal bone. The superior border of the mastoid process of the temporal bone articulates with the parietal bone. The posterior border articulates with the occipital bone, and the anterior border is merged with the descending portion of the squamous segment of the temporal bone. The aim of the study is to determine the gender using the measurement of intermastoid distance. This study was conducted among 30 boys and 30 girls who were studying Ist year in Saveetha dental college of age 18 to 20. The measurement of intermastoid distance was taken using the spreading caliber. The measurements were tabulated systemically. Then by using an unpaired t-test calculator, the T-value and P-value of the study is calculated. The study concludes that the gender can be determined by using the measurements of intermastoid distance.
Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women in the world. The age-standardised incident rate for breast cancer is of 39 per 100,000, which is twice that of cancer in the second position. In India, also breast cancer is becoming an increasing health problem. The study is aimed to assess the knowledge and awareness of risk factors associated with breast cancer. A questionnaire composed of 15 questions were circulated through an online platform google forms. The results were collected and data were analyzed using SPSS software. The awareness of breast cancer among working women comprising 75% aware and 25% not aware. The awareness about risk factors of breast cancer comprising 80% aware and 20% not aware. The percentage of the risk factor of breast cancer comprising 28% family history of breast cancer, 22% of advanced age, 9% obesity and 41% choose all the above. The overall awareness of all subgroups was fair reporting correct answers. The awareness among working women was moderate and more awareness should be created. This study concludes that awareness and measures have been taken towards risk factors of breast cancer.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
