The Metal porcelain crowns are still widely used because of the clinically satisfactory mechanical, esthetic, marginal and internal adaptation properties and affordable, but metal collars on the marginal labial are not aesthetically acceptable because of dark shadows in the cervical region which can be overcome by marginal porcelain butt joint coping design on the marginal labial. Recent clinical studies have introduced a type of cobalt chromium coping material that is biologically more biocompatible than nickel chromium which can cause allergic reactions. In this study, Ni-Cr and Co-Cr coping materials were used with full metal collarless and modified metal collarless coping designs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of material and coping design on the marginal adaptation of metal porcelain crowns. This type of research is experimental laboratory. The typodontic central incisor teeth were prepared and duplicated using CAD/CAM to become zirconia and implanted in acrylic resin blocks for the manufacture of 24 porcelain metal samples. The application of an opaque layer on both coping designs was burned at 975˚C followed by the application of dentin, enamel and glazing.
The cosmetic disfigurements which arise due to loss of orbital volume after enucleation of an eye include enophthalmus, superior sulcus deformity, upper eyelid ptosis, and lower eyelid laxity. The treatment can be either conservative or surgical. For patients who does not want to undergo further surgical procedures, the conservative treatment is simple, non-invasive, and appropriate. This case report describes modified impression tray and iris positioning technique of post enucleation socket syndrome to achieve aesthetics and function. A 65-year-old male patient reported to the Dental Hospital Universitas Sumatera Utara with the chief complaint of facial disfigurement due to loss of the right eye. Patient had enucleation 6 months ago and using conformer after surgery. The diagnosis was post enucleation socket syndrome. Clear acrylic sclera as a tray without handgrip will precisely records of the palpebre con- vexity and specified socket. The use of eyebrow ruler helps accurately determine the symmetrical iris position com- pared to only visually determining which is subjective with the possibility of interobserver errors. It was concluded that clear acrylic sclera as a tray and eyebrow ruler to determine the position of iris resulting in patient satisfaction due to aesthetics and function.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
