Introduction: Late acute cellular rejection (LACR) is associated with poorer graft outcomes and non-adherence. Non-adherence to tacrolimus can be indirectly assessed by the intra-patient variability (IPV) of tacrolimus trough levels. The threshold of IPV associated with rejection is not known.
Aim This study aimed to determine the factors that influence perceived social support among older adults in Malaysia. Methods We used the 11‐item Duke Social Support Index to assess perceived social support through a face‐to‐face interview. Higher scores indicate better social support. Linear regression analysis was carried out to determine the factors that influence perceived social support by adapting the conceptual model of social support determinants and its impact on health. Results A total of 3959 respondents aged ≥60 years completed the Duke Social Support Index. The estimated mean Duke Social Support Index score was 27.65 (95% CI 27.36–27.95). Adjusted for confounders, the factors found to be significantly associated with social support among older adults were monthly income below RM1000 (−0.8502, 95% CI −1.3523, −0.3481), being single (−0.5360, 95% CI −0.8430, −0.2290), no depression/normal (2.2801, 95% CI 1.6666–2.8937), absence of activities of daily living (0.9854, 95% CI 0.5599–1.4109) and dependency in instrumental activities of daily living (−0.3655, 95% CI −0.9811, −0.3259). Conclusion This study found that low income, being single, no depression, absence of activities of daily living and dependency in instrumental activities of daily living were important factors related to perceived social support among Malaysian older adults. The Malaysian government has finally announced for the implementation of Strata Management Act 2013 with the aims to cater disputes in the management of strata titled properties. Among the most important aspect of the Act is to introduce Strata Management Tribunal as a platform to resolve disputes among the strata owners and all stakeholders in relation to strata management and maintenance. This research addresses the period prior to the adjudication process by the Tribunal and proposes a model for early dispute resolution before the hearing. The author argues that early dispute resolution or early conflict engagement is necessary despite the establishment of Strata Management Tribunal to address non-technical issues, which involve restoration of social relationship. The author highlights the practice of other jurisdiction, for example, Victoria, Australia as well Hong Kong. The findings of the research show that Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods such as mediation or conciliation are suitable to be adopted within and outside Tribunal process. Keywords: stratified properties, Strata Management Tribunal, Strata Management Act, mediation, conciliation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
The probability of equipment failure increases over time as the age and rate of use increases. Since faults are the major cause of these failures, there are several ways and means used towards predicting fault occurrence and thus preventing the equipment from failing by diagnosing its condition. In oil filled transformers, the Dissolve Gas Analysis (DGA) is used as one of the well-established techniques to predict incipient faults inside its enclosure. With the existence of more than 6 known methods of DGA fault interpretation techniques; there is the likelihood that they may give different conditions for the same sample. Using a combination of many of the diagnostic methods will therefore increase the accuracy of the interpretation and so increase the certainty of the transformer condition. This paper presents a computer program based condition diagnosis system developed to combine four DGA assessment techniques; Rogers Ratio Method, IEC Basic Ratio Method, Duval Triangle method and Key Gas Method. A user friendly GUI presented to give a visual display of the four techniques and the output of the combined interpretation. The result of the prediction analyses done to test the accuracy of the program shows an overall DGA prediction accuracy of 97.03% compared to the 91% of the most reliable individual method; Duval Triangle and near elimination of 'no prediction' condition.
The challenges associated with financial stability and sustainability of family economy in the future are increasing. The most worrying is the problems facing the survivors after the death of their breadwinners. The majority of Muslims are rarely ready for this possibility and many lacks the knowledge on how to face such a situation. Some wrongly hold to the view that such preparation is not encouraged in Islam, against the principle of faraidh (estate planning) and an act of avoiding taxation and etc. In this article, it is shown that although waqf (Islamic endowment) appears in the form of charity but the outcomes are tremendous, encompassing family future investment and income generating. Employing a doctrinal analysis by looking into the available literatures on waqf, this article discusses how waqf ahli can contribute to family security and ensure a sustainable family economy. It is shown that Islamic endowment (waqf) aims to preserve and protect property for the use of the public; including spending on family. In addition, family waqf saves the heirs' property or business from fragmentation. Most importantly, it ensures sustainable family financial planning within the Shari‘ah framework while adding value to the existing family property or business.
