measurements of the surface area, the water content, and the heat of immersion in water. Two cases have been discovered; in one there appears a maximum in the plot of the heat of immersion against the pretreatment temperature according to the origin of the sample, but in the other a maximum does not appear. The heavy hydration treatment carried out prior to the immersion measurements raises the value of the heat of immersion in water, but it has no serious effect on the heat of surface hydration calculated therefrom, as in the case of TiO2. The average value of the latter was 11.3 kcal/mol H2O.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
