Lecturers are professional educators and scientists whose main job is to transform, develop, and disseminate knowledge, technology, and art through education, research and community services. As professionals, in Indonesia, lecturers are expected to possess pedagogic, personal, social, and professional competences. However, in reality, the professional competences of private university lecturers are still low. It has been established that the masterly of learning materials, the understanding of the pedagogic content and substance, and the use of appropriate teaching and learning methodologies are still low. Thus, the present study aimed to reveal, explain, and find a model of management which can better improve services in the private universities across Indonesia, especially, the improvement of lecturers' professional competences. The research employed a descriptive-analytic method, which aimed to reveal current events that impact positively on the improvement of private university lecturers' professional competences. This research, has revealed that the policies of lecturer planning and preparation by teacher training institutions are still weak and less concerned with the aspect of needs assessment or mapping; lecturer competence development has not been handled sufficiently thus, ignoring the stduents needs; the management strategy of lecturers' competence improvement has not been well-coordinated; the management aspect as well as lecturer continuous professional development has failed to consider reward and punishment, hence affecting lecturer competences. In the effort for further clarification, SWOT analysis was applied which also revealed that among the factors supporting lecturer development was the high motivation and othe inner personal factors. This means there should be special strategies of management development that positively influence lecturer professional competences and quality.
Purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of school principals' academic supervision and teacher work commitment on teaching performance of Public Elementary School teachers in Ciamis District. The method used in this research is descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The location of this study was conducted in the SD Negeri Ciamis District with a total of 84 respondents. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded 1) the effect of principals 'academic supervision on teacher teaching performance is in the moderate category, 2) the effect of teacher work commitment on teacher teaching performance is in the moderate category, 3) the effect of principals' academic supervision and teacher work commitment the teacher's teaching performance includes the category in the medium category while the rest is influenced by other factors. The results revealed that the school principal's academic supervision and teacher work commitment had a significant and positive effect on teacher teaching performance. The implication in this study is that the academic supervision of the principal and work commitment of the teacher performs the role and function well, it will improve the teacher's teaching performance.
This paper aims to explain leadership succession in one of Indonesian Islamic educational institution, specifically in salafiyah pesantren. Scope of this paper covered a system of pesantren leadership succession. Method of analysis was literature of pesantren from Mastuhu. The discussion revealed that a tradition of pesantren leadership succession was influenced by heredity, idealism, and respect as well as fanaticism to kiai. Traditionally, other people will not be in line with the ideology of pesantren's founders. Pesantren will being closed down to kiai. Santries as asuccessors are kiai's struggle and will be turn in when a successor act as founder. Pesantren will be let it in order to be better than before. For pesantren, other people are not successors of kiai's struggles. It had a serious impact on sustainability and development of Islamic educational institution in the future as communities.
Aspek yang dikembangkan dalam perspektif seremonial, pesantren tidak terlepas dan aspek lain sebagai pendukung kegiatan, yakni aspek material sebagai standar dan ukuran atas besarnya jumlah dana yang disediakan dalam mengembangkan program pesantren dan aspek material yang berhubungan dengan kelengkapan fisik yang dimiliki oleh pesantren dalam menyelenggarakan program kegiatan belajar-mengajar pada pesantren terkait yang selaras dengan Tujuan pendidikan yang dikembangkan oleh pesantren, secara substansial mengarah pada pembentukan kualitas hasil pendidikan yang dapat dijadikan sandaran bagi kebutuhan umat dalam melibatkan diri secara lebih mendalam akan partisipasinya sebagai stake-holder, sehingga pada gilirannya pesantren akan muncui sebagai m rcusuar yang berkenan menyinari kebutuhan umat manusia bukan saja pada makna keberagamaan, tetapi pada sisi lain dari kehidupan serta peradaban manusia.
