This study discusses the process of internalizing Islamic characters in students applied in the Kuttab Al-Fatih Jombang non-formal educational institution. The character education that has been proclaimed by the government since 2003 through the National Education System has not shown encouraging results. This was shown by the rampant immorality of the ordinary people to the elite of this nation. With the intervention approach and the micro habituation, Kuttab Al-Fatih Jombang seeks to instill Islamic characters in their students. This research method is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were extracted by means of observation, interviews and documentation, then validated and analyzed by interactive analysis models of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that Kuttab Al-Fatih Jombang focuses on cultivating Islamic characters to their students. This is shown in the material given, only Qur’an learning and thematic faith. The safeguarding of Islamic characters is not only the same as the provision of material theoretically, but practically carried out by all those involved in micro habiation including school policies and rules, leaders, teachers, staff, students and parents. Therefore, the process of cultivating student character is done with two patterns, namely the pattern of formation and habituation patterns so that Islamic characters are internalized naturally to students.
The government policy on providing educational funding for state and private higher education institutions is the right decision. This reason is quite strong as this is a logical consequence for the government as they have an obligation to promote public welfare and educate the nation. Some people see non-profit organizations (NPO) as unattractive and unprestigious, because they donot make a profit and only take care of people who are waiting for a helping hand. This view is exacerbated by the existence of a stigma that NPO is not accountable and transparent in public accountability, not professional in performance. This study intends to conduct a discourse counter by discussing the implementation of strategic management in NPOs as a "requirement" for becoming a social entity that helps address various societal problems. The method used is a literature review by collecting data through relevant literature. The data is analyzed, compared, and common ground is drawn to obtain a complete understanding. Fifteen articles related to NPOs were found. Nine of them examine financial management including accountability and transparency, three discuss strategic management and quality management, one examines public relations and publicity, one discusses community engagement, and the other presents a critique of strategic management at NPOs. The results of the study show that first, the NPO concept is an organization that does not seek profit, but instead helps solve community problems on the basis of volunteerism, partnership and humanity.Second, strategic management is very relevant to ONP. Practically, there are two strategic management models, namely the Fred R. David comprehensive model with a three-stage cycle and the Wheelen and Hunger model with a four-stage cycle. Third, two crucial challenges must be answered by NPOs, namely: 1) commitment and consistency in carrying out performance accountability and transparency, and 2) firmness and sustainability in participation in realizing social welfare.
Islamic boarding schools are important in creating a child-friendly educational environment. Creating an educational environment for Islamic boarding schools that is peaceful, comfortable, conducive, friendly, and far from various acts of violence is a necessity that cannot be negotiated anymore. The principles of creating child-friendly education refer to the Child Protection Act Number 17 of 2016 and PPPA Ministerial Regulation Number 8 of 2014, which all contain the principles of protecting children. These principles are (1) non-discrimination, (2) prioritizing children's needs, (3) paying attention to children's rights in the form of the right to live, grow and develop according to their physical and psychological development, (4) Fourth, respect for ideas, thoughts, and children's opinions. As a religious institution that is attached to the values of civility and high politeness, Islamic boarding schools carry prophetic perennial values of both the Qur'an and the hadith of the Prophet as the main foundation in the development of child-friendly education, which originates from the noble personalities of the prophets and apostles, namely the formation of faith is balanced with the strengthening of noble character.
