Community empowerment has wide meaning from various point of view. Community empowerment is the emphasis on the behavior of self-sustaining local communities as a system that breaks down themselves. Communities have the right to determine strategies for empowerment strategies according to their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Analysis of empowerment strategies through SWOT analysis for strategies that can be in accordance with the characteristics of society. This research was conducted at the priority location of Community Based Settlement Environment (PLPBK) program of Kelurahan Suryatmajan with number of informant 30 people and sampling technique using snowball sampling to find an information. From the analysis result, based on aformentioned reasons there are 4 segments of community empowerment point in the priority areas, namely handicraft and food industry, eco-green area, green open space area, and river arrangement. The determination of community empowerment strategy is the initial stage of overall empowerment activities, because the initial stage can determine the category of society and the pattern of empowerment to be undertaken
Pangsa pengeluaran pangan berhubungan terbalik dengan ketahanan pangan, semakin besar pangsa pengeluaran pangan maka semakin rendah ketahanan rumah tangga yang bersangkutan. Pendapatan merupakan salah satu faktor yang menentukan pola konsumsi rumah tangga. Pendapatan yang semakin tinggi menunjukkan daya beli semakin meningkat dan meningkat pula aksesbilitas terhadap pangan yang berkualitas lebih baik. Aceh Utara merupakan salah satu kabupaten yang potensial atas kerawanan pangan (Badan Pusat Statistik Aceh dalam angka, 2018). Mayoritas Kecamatan di Aceh Utara menjadikan sektor pertanian sebagai sumber mata pencaharian. Penelitian ini dilakukan di 3 kecamatan, yaitu Baktiya, Sawang, dan Lhoksukon dengan sampel berjumlah 60 orang petani padi sawah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) mengetahui besarnya proporsi pengeluaran pangan terhadap pengeluaran total rumah tangga petani menurut kelompok pendapatan, (2) mengetahui tingkat konsumsi pangan (energi dan protein) rumah tangga petani Utara berdasarkan strata pendapatan dan (3) menganalisis kondisi ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani menurut kelompok pendapatan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas dari persamaan pangsa pengeluaran diperoleh persentasi ketahanan pangan rumah tangga petani di Kabupaten Aceh Utara menunjukkan bahwa rumah tangga petani yang tahan pangan sebanyak 25 petani (41,67%) dari total sample penelitian. Selanjutnya, diperoleh rumah tangga petani dengan kategori kurang pangan sebanyak 1 petani (1,67%), rumah tangga petani dengan kategori rentan pangan sebanyak 2 petani (3,33%), dan rumah tangga petani dengan kategori rawan pangan sebanyak 32 petani (53,33%) dari total sample penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petani yang memiliki pendapatan rendah berada dalam kategori rawan pangan.
Purpose-This study aims to analyze the contribution of revenue and consumption cost of soybean farmers. Design/Methodology/Approach-Data analysis was done by quantitative descriptive analysis. Data were obtained in the form of numbers then the results of the obtained data were presented in the form of a systematic description. The sample in this study is the entire population of soybean farmers in Muara Batu, Aceh Utara by using census method as much as 50 farmers. Findings-The results showed that the contribution of soybean farm revenue amounted to 6.94%, nonsoybean farming amounted to 48.12%, and out farm activities amounted to 44.94%. This indicates that soybean farming activities are enough to contribute to increase the family revenue. Meanwhile, the average amount of household cost for food is 16,696,800 IDR/Year and for non-food is 8,397,500 IDR/Year. The analysis shows that although the contribution of soybean farming revenue is the lowest than the other farms' revenue, it is very helpful to the farmers for fulfilling the needs of family consumption cost every year. Research Limitations/Implications-The object of this research is to study all the farmers who utilize the land for soybean farming in Muara Batu. The research limitations are income contribution and consumption cost of soybean farmers. Practical Implications-The amount of soybean production produced by farmers is much lower. However, the farmers can still increase their income if the amount of production can be increased by more intensification of soybean farming as tough as the use of superior varieties of soil processing, organic fertilizer on soil, balanced and integrated pest control, and harvesting and post-harvesting to reduce food loses. Originality/Value-The farmers earned revenue not only from soybeans, but also from non-soybean farm and out farm. Soybean farming activities aim to increase revenues in order to meet the needs of the family that consist of food and non-food consumptions.
The rice farmers community as producers of staple food for food needs of the community is considered to have certainty in food security. Not only they have to produce food commodities, but they are also responsible for the availability of food for all their families and the community. This study aims to describe the division of roles between women and men in agricultural and non-farm activities (on farm and off farm) in order to fill household food security in rice farming communities in Blang Pala Village, Banda Baro District, Aceh Utara Regency, Aceh Province. The study was conducted by in-depth interviews with ethno-science as the approach. The informants are determined based on several conditions, such as full of involvement in agricultural and non-agricultural activities, informants who are directly involved in the cultural atmosphere, and have different social and cultural backgrounds with researchers. Informants in this study were divided into female farmers and male farmers. The results of the study show that women have a real and very important contribution to food security of their family. Women have a very important role in the effort to provide food at the household level because women are fully involved both in agricultural activities and outside agricultural activities. Although basically those who make a livelihood are not the main task of women, but when it comes to providing food, it becomes a duty of women in their families
