Rapid population growth and explosive increasing of the number of personal vehicles have led to a significant transport problem in megacities. Finding of a vacant parking slot is considered to be a stressful problem which can be solved by giving a reliable information about parking spaces and the offering the necessary parking management which is called smart parking. The article provides a detailed overview of existing technologies of hardware, software and organizational support for smart parking. Descriptions of various types of parking solutions are given. The situation with the implementation of smart parking in the Republic of Kazakhstan is considered separately. It is shown that, despite the prevalence of cloud technologies in the implementation of IoT systems, at present, foggy technologies are increasingly being used, which involve processing data directly on end devices and thereby reducing the data transfer time.
