In the present work the mean field theory is used to determine the magnetic properties of a GdCo “planar” layer under exchange interaction with a TbFeCo “perpendicular” layer. The magnetization distributions φ1 and φ2 in the planar and perpendicular layers are determined from a micromagnetic model using a variational method of the magnetic energies in the temperature range 0–500 K. φ2 presents small change with the temperature. On the other hand, φ1 and its mean value 〈φ1〉 are very sensitive to the temperature and the layer composition and thickness. A temperature induced phase transition with a magnetization reorientation from in-plane to a perpendicular direction can be induced in the planar layer in a temperature window ΔT which depends on its compensation temperature TCP1 and its thickness which has to be lower than a critical value.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
