ChemInform Abstract Oxidation of the ethylpyridines (I) with potassium permanganate yields predominantly the pyridine carboxylic acids (III), together with minor amounts of the pyridylglyoxylic acids (II). The 3-pyridyl compound (IIa) is coupled with the phenylhydrazine (IV) to form the nicotinaldehyde hydrazone (V) as the result of a decarboxylation, whereas the 4-pyridylglyoxylic acid (IIb) gives the usual carbonyl reactions. The semicarbazones (VIII) are cyclized, producing the triazinones (IX). The quinoxalinone (XI) is obtained from (IIb) and o-phenylenediamine (X).
ChemInform Abstract The alkylaminocarbazoles (IV) are prepared from the ketone (I) via the imines (III). The hydrochlorides of the compounds (IV) have no antitubercular activity.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
