Abstract.A device for studies of neutron-physical characteristics of thorium fuel is described in this paper. The device consists of a thorium subcritical assembly combined with a source of fast neutrons. A long magnetic trap with injection of high energy neutral atoms into a plasma column serves as a source of thermonuclear neutrons. The subcritical assembly design consists of Fuel Block of the Unified Design. The analysis of the requirements for the plasma as the neutron source is presented in the paper.
The mechanical activation of the base mixture of TiO2-B was researched in terms of the structural changes leading to the formation of a mixture of micro particles whose volume increases with the increase of the power intensity of the mechanical activation of the furnace charge and it also increases the surface contact area of the components of the mixture participating in the synthesis. The limit of the mechanical activation of the researched system is 120g.
Abstract. The paper describes the production of metal-ceramic high-current emitters containing lanthanum hexaboride LaB 6 by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. Tests of emitters as explosive-emission cathodes in an OMEGA-350 microsecond accelerator are presented. Experiments show that when a metal-ceramic cathode is used, the emitted energy was 12-17 % higher than that produced by tungsten and graphite cathodes and the beam "signature" is a circle with a small (~ 15 %) variation in radius.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
