Based on the databases of daily ship reports and scientific observations, a characteristic of the structure of catches in the fishery by pelagic and bottom trawls, as well as by snurrevaad in the Far Eastern Fisheries Basin, is given. It has been revealed that the fisheries regulation mechanisms in place during the study period did not fully solve the discards problem. On the one hand, there has been some improvement in the development of valuable species of by-catch, and on the other, an increase in discards of low-value by-catch in these types of fisheries. Discards from these types of fisheries are more than 1 million tons per year.
Research object: aquatic biological resources and fishing in the South Kuril zone. The purpose of the work is to assess the state of resources and fishing in the South Kuril zone of the Far Eastern fishery basin of Russia in 2000-2020, the prospects for the development of the fishery complex.
Result: With the average long-term recommended value of the commercial withdrawal in the South Kuril zone of 623 thousand tons, the development of aquatic biological resources averages 206.5 thousand tons, or 33.1% (in 2020, the development was 53.5%). The region has significant prospects and potential within the framework of the overall development strategy for the Russian Far East.
Object of research: resource potential, coastal and industrial fishing in the
Primorye subzone. The purpose of the work is to assess the state of stock and
fishing in the Primorye subzone.
Result: According to long-term averaged data (2000-2018), more than 200
thousand tons of aquatic biological resources are undercought annually in
the Primorye subzone. Today, the coast of the Primorye subzone is the most
populated and infrastructural developed in the Russian Far East. The paper
analyzes the state of living resources and fisheries. The reason for the low
development is mainly the imperfection of management, as a result of which
coastal fishing does not receive proper attention and development.
Object of research: the North Kuril fishing zone. The purpose of the work is to characterize the state of the Russian fishery in the North Kuril zone of the Far Eastern fishery basin of Russia in 2000-2021. Result: The average long-term recommended value of fishing harvest in the North Kuril zone is 146.75-319.71 (244.54) thousand tons. At the same time, the average long-term development of aquatic biological resources is at a high level - 88.89-259.53 .76) thousand tons or 76.4%. The high proportion of exploitation of commercial aquatic organisms implies a limited possibility of expanding fisheries by increasing the gross catch. The development of the fishery complex of the region, obviously, should be ensured through comprehensively substantiated logistics and technological solutions.
