Positive peritoneal cytology, deep myometrial invasion and stage II-IV endometrial cancer were significantly more common in patients with a BMI of <25. There were no significant differences in tumor grade, surgical technique, surgical morbidity or adjuvant radiotherapy between the BMI groups. Recurrence and cancer-related mortality rates were not affected by the BMI.

There are no specific markers for accurate preoperative diagnosis of ovarian fibroma/fibrothecoma. Moreover, according to our results, RMI scoring system does not aid clinicians in this issue either, with a high false-positive rate and very low sensitivity. Further studies with higher number of cases are needed to state clearly the role of RMI scores in preoperative discrimination of malignancy.

All patients diagnosed with EOC macroscopically confined to the ovary should be considered for comprehensive staging surgery including pelvic and paraaortic lymphadenectomy.
