Accident data on the 52km Akure-Ondo Carriageway and Spot Speed data were collected and analyzed. The analysis of the Spot Speed gives an average of 51.5km/hr and 110.75km/hr for the 15 th and 85 th percentile speed respectively, the 85 th percentile speed is higher than the posted speed limit of 60km/hr which indicate that the vehicle travelling at this speed are susceptible to accident. The analysis for the study area also shows that 759 peopled were involved in the accidents, 108 persons were killed and about 348 persons were injured between 2002-2007, 38% of the accident were fatal accident and 62% non-fatal accident, However, the regression analysis carried out on the accident data with number of accident as the dependent variables and number of people killed in the accident(X 1), number of people injure(X 2), number of people involved in the accident(X 3) as independent variables; gives a coefficient of correlation "R" value of 70.70% and coefficient of determination "R 2 "of 49.70% respectively. Factors such as driver's behavior, poorly maintained vehicles, non adherence to traffic rules, poorly maintained road and verges, and over-speeding are causatives factors to road accident. The study compared the influence of the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of men and women leaders on their leadership styles and patterns in the rural community organizations. Ninety-six respondents (48 men leaders and 48 women leaders) were randomly selected and interviewed in 12 villages in Ife Central and Ife East Local Government Areas using a structured interview schedule. The findings revealed that both men and women leaders achieved their position through election. The average age range was 40-49 years for both men and women leaders. All but one male leader was married while a small percentage of men leaders were widowers. More men leaders were educated than uneducated while women's organizations recorded as many educated women leaders as uneducated leaders. Frequency of criticism was significantly related to age (r ¼ 0.004), and level of education (r ¼ 0.009) of women leaders, while there was a significant but negative correlation between level of education of women leaders and extent of cooperation by members (r ¼ -0.014). Only frequency of expression of feelings correlated significantly with the level of education of men's leaders (r ¼ 0.000). There were no significant differences in the leadership styles and patterns of men and women leaders in the following areas: reaction to unruly behaviour (t ¼ 0.256), extent of dependence (t ¼ 0.163), extent of cooperation (t ¼ 0.310) and frequency of criticism of members (t ¼ 0.677). However, there was a significant difference (t ¼ 0.050) between men and women leaders on expression of personal feelings.
