The structure consists of a three-dimensional network of edge-and corner-linked distorted tetrahedral [MO 4 ] entities, with M = Na + and Cd 2+ in a 1:3 ratio sharing a common site set on Wyckoff position 8h in space group I4/m. Structure D 2000Synthesis and Characterization of Na 5 [VO 4 ][O] and Na 4 [VO 4 ][OH]. -Single crystals of the title compounds are prepared by reactions of V2O5 with Na2O and additional NaOH in the case of Na4[VO4][OH] (600-700°C, argon, sealed Ag containers). Na5[VO4][O] crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbcm with Z = 4 and Na4[VO4][OH] in the orthorhombic space group Pnma (Z = 4). The structures contain isolated, slightly distorted [VO 4 ] 3tetrahedra and non-coordinating oxide and hydroxide anions, respectively. Rubidium I 0700 An ortho-Silicate-hydroxide: Rb5[SiO4][OH]. -Colorless single crystals of the title compound are obtained besides yellow Rb 3 ReO 5 from the solid state reaction of Rb 2 O, Rb2CO3, Re and CdO (6:1:1:1, 700°C; sealed Ag-container in a silica tube, 40 h). Rb5[SiO4][OH] crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 4.
