Transcranial magnetic stimulation or repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS/rTMS) is currently being used in treatments of the central nervous system diseases, for instance, depressive states. The principles of localized magnetic stimulation are summarized and the risk and level of occupational field exposure of the therapeutic staff is analyzed with reference to ICNIRP guidelines for pulses below 100 kHz. Measurements and analysis of the occupational exposure to magnetic fields of the staff working with TMS/rTMS are presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
