Reactions of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine with salicylaldehyde, pyridine-2-carbaldehyde and 2-aminobenzophenone in methanol result in the hydrazone Schiff base ligands salicylaldehyde-, pyridine-2-carbaldehyde-, and 2-aminobenzophenone-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone, respectively. Crystals of salicylaldehyde-2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone are monoclinic, space group P2 1 /c, a = 13.820(3), b = 4.3515(9), c = 25.159(7)Å, β = 123.01(2) • with Z = 4. The molecular packing is mostly a zigzag or herring-bone pattern.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
