The electrical field in the end winding is nonlinear and its increase causes gliding partial discharges. To suppress the undesirable effect of partial discharges the end-winding corona protections (ECP) are applied. This protection is generally either varnish or tape. The essential property of the end winding corona protection is its nonlinearity. When the electrical field increases, the resistivity of ECP decreases. Thus, the voltage distribution along the stator bar gets more linear and so the possibility of gliding partial discharge occurrence minimizes. This article describes behavior of electric filed distribution in dependency on length of ECP and applied voltage.
Electricity represents an integral part of the infrastructure of countries and also forms an integral part of life for all people. Transmission of electrical energy to the final consumer is relized by using electricity grid. This can be divided into two main parts: transmission and distribution. In both parts there are a lot of electrical and electrnic components which might be are under electrical stress and harmfully influenc insulation of the devices. This paper talks about higher stress caused by connection of renewable sources.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
