This systematic review presents the most important characteristics and trends of research in circular supply chain management (CSCM), taking into account the impact of COVID. In addition, the similarities and differences between the basic concepts often used as synonyms for sustainability are also presented. First, the sample database (39,000 records) was based on a search containing publications’ titles regarding supply chain management (SCM). After narrowing the topic from SCM towards CSCM, the considered paper characteristics were expanded, including abstract and author keywords, to get a manageable number of samples for the systematic analysis (6095 documents) and the most accurate results possible. The analysis’ base sample was divided into two periods (before and after 2012) due to a significant increase and change in the number of publications, their subject, characteristic journals and geographical location. Sustainability has emerged since 2012, while a circular approach emerged after 2017 with a significant share of research, mainly thanks to relevant EU policies. Although the role of the US has been decisive in the field, the European research bases of previous years have increasingly been replaced by Far Eastern dominance. Currently, CSCM’s most important journal is the International Journal of Supply Chain Management (Elsevier), but most articles on the impact of COVID have been published in Sustainability (MDPI). More effective policy implementation and the fight against COVID in the development of supply chains are also likely to spread the circular economic model in the future.
Optimization of automotive parts nowadays is mainly used to design lightweight and cost-effective vehicle parts in order to improve the cost and efficiency. In this research, a sheet metal part was taken into consideration and optimized using direct optimization module in ANSYS to evaluate the process. An initial Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was done on the sheet metal part by adding forces and constraints in order to initiate direct optimization. The purpose of the optimization is to minimize the mass of the sheet metal part and maintaining a certain Factor of Safety (FOS) by automatically modifying the sheet thickness and the dimension of the side holes. As a result, the best candidate point with 23% mass reduction was found which complied with FOS value was selected for optimal geometry.
Economic growth plays a vital role in climate change which can be negatively affecting the climate by depleting the natural resources continuously and increasing the greenhouse gas emissions, it can be turned into a positive effect by applying sustainability in the different Economic practices in order to save our natural resources, decrease the amount of waste and decrease the greenhouse gas emissions. Sustainable Economic growth can stop the environmental issues which affect the Economic itself in the present and in the future in a way that ensures economic growth with environmentally friendly practices by changing the macroeconomic policies to imply that the growth can be maintained for the long term. There’s a need to study and discover the research work in the area of Economic growth in more depth to get a better insight about how this term has been studied and developed and what the researchers have achieved in this area to define the research gaps and to open up the field for future studies.
In recent years due to the impact of climate change, there was an increased awareness for the importance of changing our practices. That can be done by integrating the circular economy with environmental thinking and initiatives into the current systems, which in turn will have the role of decreasing the carbon footprint, measuring up the companies profit and also motivate the competitiveness. Despite the benefits of implementing the circular economy saving ideas to the systems, it’s still not widely used. Therefore, in this study a bibliometric analysis is done on the circular economy’s literature over the last two decades to understand the present level of research work in the field. This research is quantitatively evaluating the academic literature and defining research characteristics based on the number of published articles and their citation impact, also it’s quantifying and assessing the scientific success of individuals and organizations in the field. It was found that European countries have contributed with a high number of publications in the area of the research. Based on the results, it is clear that the relevance of the circular economy has increased in recent years, and further study and research is still needed in this area.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
