Objective: Previous studies reported insulin-like growth factor type 1 (IGF-1) gene expression in mandibular condylar cartilage and idiopathic scoliosis development. This paper aims to correlate the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of IGF-1 gene rs5742632 in vertical mandibular asymmetry patients with idiopathic scoliosis symptom.
Patient presented with paraparesis of the arm after sustaining a motorvehicle accident. X-Ray Cervical showed type II odontoid fracture. Tetraparesis has been reported to be associated with fracture of axis and/ or atlas and acute CCS has rarely been associated with the fractures. However, this case illustrated patient with central cord syndrome asscociated with odontoid fracture. MRI of the cervical spine has revealed lesion consistent with the acute central cord syndrome at C2-C3 level. Treatment with gallie method has shown lower fusion rate than screw rod construct. Patient underwent posterior atlantoaxial fusion with screw rod construct and was discharged with a good neurological improvement.
Introduction: Spinal Meningiomas are most common in adult spinal tumors, account for 25-46% of tumors of spine with the highest incidence seen in thoracic region of middle-aged-woman.. Advance in radiological and surgical assistive devices have resulted earlier diagnosis. Surgical resection is the standard treatment and now associated with a good postoperative outcome. Case Report:A 47-year-old woman with 2 years history of numbness progressed below the umbilicus. Local pain on her back, walks in creeping way, urinary and fecal incontinence. MRI showing hypointense lesion on level T7, underwent surgical resection and histopathological examination revealed psammomatous meningioma (WHO Grade I). Patient discharged with improvement gait but some residual numbness and weakness on her right foot. Discussion: Meningiomas are primary tumors of spine, account for 25-46% of tumors of spine with the highest incidence seen in thoracic region of middle-aged-woman. Lead to symptoms only when they reach a considerable size to compress the spinal cord. Surgical resection is standard treatment and is now associated with a good postoperative outcome. Conclusion: Spinal Meningiomas with the highest incidence seen in thoracic region of middle-aged-woman. Present with pain, sensory loss, weakness and spinchter disturbance. MRI is recommended for the diagnosis. Surgical resection is standard treatment and associated with a good postoperative outcome.
Background : Tuberculosis known as one of most deadliest disease in the world, as much 35% of whole extrapulmonal TB cases afflict the bone, and most of it on the spine. Ca 125 is a useful malignant marker, where the value increase in both malignant and benign. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the value of Ca 125 in spinal tuberculosis compare with a healthy person. Material and Method : A total twenty four patients ( twelve on each group ) of patients with spinal TB and health sample patients were checked for the value of ca 125 between December 2018 and February 2019, gender, age, and the laboratory result of ca 125 were recorded, and the two group result of ca 125 are compared. Results : There were significant differences value of ca125 between two group (p > 0,05), with mean value of ca 125 in spinal tb group (±48.78), and health patients group (±5.09). Results : There were significant differences value of ca125 between two group (p > 0,05), with mean value of ca 125 in spinal tb group (±48.78), and health patients group (±5.09). Conclusion : The value of ca 125 on spinal tb found higher compared to health patient, and it showed by p 0,001 (p<0,05).
